About this site

I've been thinking about AI and computers for many years. This is a slide from a paper titled "Computer Technology in the Arts: Current Applications", which I wrote in May 1990 as a college project.

Hi! I'm Andy Wolber and I started AI Productivity News because I really wanted a place to keep track of generative AI.

I've engaged with waves of technology including personal computing in the 1980s, the internet and web in the 1990s, mobile and social technologies in the 2000s and cloud computing in the 2010s.

The sheer scale of large language models and chatbots launched in late 2022 and early 2023 represent the initial wave of what I think will be a significant shift in how people work and learn: Generative AI systems.

In the coming decade, generative AI will change our operating systems, our applications and our processes. I plan to share what I learn and think about this shift at this site.
